Selena Seballo’s writing journey began in 2004 with an unexpected spark of inspiration. While in Texas for a friend’s graduation, a Robin Thicke song on the radio vividly conjured a vision of a musical in her mind. This moment ignited her passion for creating original musicals. Determined to learn, she immersed herself in the world of musical theater, devouring scripts, books on writing, bootlegged recordings, and documentaries.
Eager to hone her craft, Selena studied under Eugene O’Neill award-winning playwright and best-selling author Ken Eulo, exploring both writing and acting under his mentorship. It was Ken’s introduction to Harold Pinter’s works that deepened Selena’s desire to master playwriting. This led her to move to the United Kingdom in 2014, where she earned a master’s degree in Writing for Performance and Dramaturgy from Goldsmiths University of London.
Since then, Selena has worked as a dramaturg on various theatrical projects, including Whisper Darkly, an immersive musical by Andrew Gerle and DJ Salisbury. She is also the book writer and lyricist for The Chequerboard Watch, a new musical currently in development.
